Space Age Style

There are plenty of car concepts in the archives, but the space age era has to be the best – and we have the 1950s to thank for it. Back then there were people who believed that Star Wars would translate really well into automobile design. We’re talking battle cruiser-style open reactor power plants jutting out the back and radioactive blue glow. But hey, maybe they were on to something.     Worth noting that the modest tail fins on the Mercedes-Benz sedans made from 1959 to 1968 were actually quite practical, providing high speed lateral stability at Autobahn speeds. This was particularly important in the age of squirrelly bias ply tires.
