The C8 Corvette Will Have 850 Horsepower
Don’t you just love a good leak? We sure do. And especially when it involves debatebly Detroits worst kept secret, aka the C8 Corvette’s existence. The spotlight might be on the C7 ZR-1, but the upcoming C8 has our full attention. The first ever mid-engined Corvette is rumored to be unveiled in January. Lucky for us, a certain Corvette Forum user has leaked a market analysis document from IHS Markit that gives us not only proof of the mid-engined Corvette, but also the multiple engine options. (Three, to be exact).
Let’s start with those engine options, shall we? Three different V8s will be offered. Two of those are DOHC V8s, a 4.2-liter and a 5.5-liter. The third, the mid-engined C8, will get the 6.2-liter V8 and will have an average annual production of 14,000 units from 2019 until 2021. Now, for the horsepower. The leaked document lists the maximum output of the new engine family as 850 hp and 720 lb-ft of torque. We are sure we’ll learn more as Detroit approaches. Stay tuned.
