Head to Head: C8 Corvette vs. Mustang Shelby GT500
A mid-week check in on a good old fashioned drag race – at least in our opinion, there isn’t. Today we have a classic matchup of sportscar power. While the C8 is certainly a fast car, it wasn’t exactly designed for drag racing. Now, let’s talk specs. In one corner we have the 2021 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray, powered by a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine that produces 490-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It can get from 0-60 in a little over 3 seconds, or 2.9 seconds when it has the Z51 package, bringing overall power to 495-hp. In the other corner there’s the Mustang Shelby GT500, packing a whopping 760-hp and 625 lb-ft of torque from a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine. The Ford gets from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and does the quarter mile in just 11, so the odds are leaning in the Mustang’s favor, but you never know how these things could shake out. Place your bets, and check out the video below to find out who comes out with the W.
