All-Original 1965 Ford GT40 Roadster
We have a classic for you today. A 1965 Ford GT40. And yes, it is all-original. And yes, it is without a roof. There were only a total of six GT40 roadster prototypes built. Ford wanted to make sure that there would be sufficient interest before putting the car into production. Of those six prototypes, only this one remains. What happened to those 5 other GT40s? They were either destroyed (cringe), or modified into coupes. But we’re not here to tell you about those other rides. We want to talk about this survivor, and its story.
This beauty was built in October 1964 and completed in 1965. Upon completion, it was tested at Silverstone and then invoice to, yep you guessed it, Shelby American. And the car has lived in the U.S ever since. Although the ride has received a number of necessary repairs, it remains with its original 1965 nose, that makes it all the more special. The GT/108 went on tour with Shelby as a display car on race weekends, and was also a demonstration car driven by numerous renowned drivers. Simply put, the GT/108 was a demonstration car and eventually put into storage with the other GT40s.
The car has endured a few minor (but necessary) modifications and mechanical refreshers. And continues to be put on display at numerous events such as Pebble Beach. Only difference is, this time around, it’s up for auction. Girardo & Co. has the listing and the price will only be revealed to those with serious inquires. Meaning it will be insanely expensive (probably into the seven figures). We can dream, right?

Only 7 figures? Must be seriously flawed.
