Golden Hour: 1968 Mustang GT500
The upcoming 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 is undoubtedly the most anticipated muscle car at the moment. The car packs a 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 and produces 760-hp and 625 lb-ft of torque using a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On top of the goodies happening under the hood, the GT500 is light and as aerodynamic as possible. As we get ready for this monster, we thought it would be nice to take a look at just how far the GT500 has come. The example you see here is a 1968 model on auction at Barrett-Jackson’s Northeast event.
This oldie-but-goodie packed a 428 cubic-inch, 7.0-liter V-8 pumping out 360-hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Not bad for that time, right? Enjoy the photos below and take a look at all that is showcased at Barrett-Jackson. We’ll keep you updated when a lucky customer claims this classic.
