“Old Crow” Mustang GT

Colonel Bud Anderson, a triple ace pilot during World War II, cherished his P-51 Mustang fighter plane. So much, in fact, that he named it “The Old Crow,” after the bourbon whiskey, which he also cherished. Anderson served as a member of the 363rd Fighter Squadron for two tours and 30 years in the armed forces. And now, decades later, Ford is honoring the vet with a one-off Mustang.

The project is all thanks to Ford and Roush, and packs a slew of goodies. Most notably:

  • A P-51 -inspired paint job
  • Roush rear fascia aerofoils
  • Ford Performance front racing spoiler
  • 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 rear spoiler
  • Custom heat extractor on the hood
  • Blue rainbow-tinted exhaust tips
  • Roush-supercharged 5.0-liter V8
  • 710-horsepower
  • 610 pound-feet of torque
  • New air induction system and X pipe
  • 20-inch lightweight Roush wheels
  • 275/35R Continental ExtremeContact sport tires

As you could’ve probably guessed, the inside is inspired by a fighter jet cockpit. Oh, and we forgot to mention, the custom Mustang hits the auction block at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s 2019 AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on July 25th. We’re not sure how much it’ll go for at auction, but all proceeds will be donated to the EAA’s youth and adult aviation programs.

The Inspired 2018 Mustang

An interview conducted by Autoblog, claims that designers have started to add a Hollywood fantasy aspect to their cars. Specifically, the 2018 Ford Mustang. In the interview, (which was appropriately published on May 4th, the unofficially Star Wars holiday), Autoblog spoke with Ford design manager, Melvin Betancourt. He said, “When we were designing the new 2018 Mustang, the team wanted to make the new model look more aggressive, and one place where we found inspiration was one of the most famous screenplay villains of all time. The angeled nostrils and contours of Darth Vader’s mask became the inspiration for the Mustang’s new fog lamp scoops and front-end shape“.

Well, we definitely see the similarities, and love the source of inspiration. The car has already been crowned as the best selling sports car in the world, and with the Darth Vader style, may the force be with anyone who wants to challenge it on the ‘strip.

The Story Behind The Mid-Engine Corvette

The 2020 rear-mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette was the first radical transformation the model had undergone since its introduction nearly seven decades prior. So it seems only fitting that the C8 Corvette get a two-part documentary detailing the evolution of the car, and how exactly we got from the first model year to now. And lucky for us, the trailer for the documentary titled “Revolution: The Mid-engine Corvette Development Story,” was made available this week, and it’s in your best interest to give it a watch. Check it out, right here.
