Rallycross: 1969 Mercury Cougar
Muscle cars have it all – speed, strength and looks. Now, some fans have taken things to the next level with a 1969 Mercury Cougar + Rallycross. Also known as RallyX, Rallycross is a North American car competition that involves solo driving on grass or dirt. Rallycross is a real blast. I have run this event in central Pennsylvania under conditions which make the Cougar’s adventure here look like a rollick on a billiard table. We ran in a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190E with manual tranny. That car had superb control and was solid as a rock. Many late model Suburus and Mitsubishis with “rallye packages” fell broken by the wayside.
