Watch This Christmas Tree Go 174 MPH
‘Tis the season… for a Christmas-themed muscle car stunt. We can’t think of another company that would take a Christmas tree and try to make it go over 170 mph besides, yep you guessed it, Hennessey Performance. In the video below, John Hennessey explains that the company reached out to Dodge to see if they could borrow a Challenger SRT Demon and strap a Christmas tree to the roof. Dodge didn’t have a Demon to lend out, so they sent a 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. That’ll work.
Sans tree, Hennessey maxed out the Challenger SRT Hellcat at 177 mph with a makeshift roof rack. As it turns out, strapping a 6 ft. Christmas tree to the top has little effect on performance. Brian Smith, director of the Ford Performance Racing School was behind the wheel. He managed to hit 174 in the Hellcat, tree in tow. Not bad for the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. You don’t want to miss this one. Happy Holidays.
