Will The Mustang Get A New Turbo-4 Next Year?
Since Ford retired the V-6 engine for the 2018 Mustang, customers have had fewer options than previous years. But that may change next year. Hagerty reported last week that they uncovered documents that show not one, but two 2.3-liter turbo-4 engine codes. The first we are all familiar with, the turbo-4 that produces 310 horsepower. The second 2.3-liter turbo-4 is listed as “TBD” under the horsepower section.
It seems like the Blue Oval might be taking advantage of the opportunity to bridge the gap between the Mustang’s 310-hp and the Mustang GT’s 435-hp. This would give customers another option, increasing the value of the lineup and, in theory, increasing sales. More to come on the expected power output of this mystery turbo-4. Stay tuned.
