725-HP Rocket V8 Headed For Production
This supercharged V8 Mustang truly looks unlike any muscle car that has come before it. A few years back Henrik Fisker designed a crazy custom Ford Mustang called the Galpin Rocket. Now, it goes by a different name: The VLF Automotive Rocket V8. VLF brought the Rocket V8 to the 2017 Detroit Auto Show to stir up interest for its anticipated production run. Yep, that’s right, this 725-horsepower Mustang is set for production. Rumor has it the custom muscle car will start at $120,000, a price which includes the Mustang it’s based on.
Sure, spending $120,000 on a custom Mustang sounds a bit crazy, but the package is pretty sweet. The V8 engine has been upgraded with a supercharger, giving it a power output of 725 hp and 700 lb-fit of torque. Top speed? 200 mph. It hits 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, with 15-inch Brembos providing the stopping power. The body was designed by Fisker and is a huge upgrade from the standard ‘Stang. Most importantly the front end. The Rocket V8 will come in both coupe and convertible. No word on those prices just yet.
The interior redesign features leather Recaro seats and a revised dashboard. As far as custom muscle cars go, this ride is at the top of our list. It might even see more interest than the Destino or Force 1, VLF Automotives other offerings in the luxury muscle car space. Check out these shots from the Detroit show of Henrik Fisker’s take on the Ford Mustang.
