The Iconic Ruf CTR “Yellowbird”
At first glance, this car may remind you of another. Some call it a modified Porsche 911, but Ruf calls it the CTR “Yellowbird.” When the yellow CTR first flew down the test-track at 211.14mph, the nickname “Yellowbird” seemed fitting. The 1987 car pictured above is one of just 29 CTRs ever made. This Ruf has impressive credentials. Weighing in at 2,700lbs, lightweight body panels allow acceleration from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds. The CTR has a little help from its twin-turbocharged engine, too. This car has even outperformed a Porsche 959 and Lamborghini Countach: two of many iconic moments for the CTR.
In this video, Car and Driver tells us everything and more about the Ruf CTR “Yellowbird.” Decide if the CTR or its successor CTR 3 will prevail on the Autobahn then watch for the result. Enjoy.
