Meet The Latest Race-Tuned Mustang: The Shelby FP350S
Ford has churned out more than a few track-variants of its mighty Mustang. But we can assure you, this does not mean we aren’t excited when they give us even more. Introducing the latest model, the Shelby FP350S. This (not street legal) ‘stang was revealed at the US Performance Racing Industry show in Indianapolis, and has been designed to race at Trans Am, NASA and SCCA club events. Dave Pericak from Ford Performance said, “Our goal has always been to provide those who want to race with equipment that enables them to compete and win.”

The FP350S is powered by a 5.2-liter, naturally-aspirated V8 engine from Ford Performance with a custom exhaust. The engine puts it on par with the classic road Mustang. But, what puts this Shelby over the edge is the wealth of upgrades that make it racetrack ready. You get a 3160 six-speed manual transmission with a 3.73 rear final drive ratio and an integral oil pump. You also get a modified unibody chassis with seam welding and a six-point, FIA-compliant roll cage. What else? A performance-oriented oil pan and oil cooler, race-oriented suspension component, including electric steering and high-performance brake system, quick-release steering and of course, a racing seat. There’s a few more goodies including a carbon-fiber adjustable rear wing, and some optional Shelby FP350S custom graphics. How much will this race-ready beauty set you back? As of now, it’s unknown. But if you’re in the market for a true race track machine, your local U.S Ford dealer will surely hook you up in 2017.
