Chrysler Portal Concept: The Family Minivan Of The Future
This Portal concept has the potential to be the most advanced Chrysler vehicle yet. With CES kicking off in Las Vegas in just a few days, we’re anxiously awaiting what quirky concepts and automotive tech innovations are in store for us. Chrysler is set to debut its new technologically advanced concept car: the all-electric, autonomous Chrysler Portal.
The futuristic minivan may look like a redesigned Pacifica, but we can assure you it’s much more than that. The Portal Concept has been designed to support a “millennial lifestyle” with a mission to become a “third space” between work and home. Its minimalistic exterior gives way to huge “portal shaped” double sliding doors. A clear roof panel and a large windshield allow for an ample amount of natural light. It’s the interior where things get interesting. Spanning 180 cubic feet, it’s inviting and comfortable. The cherry on top: the fancy facial recognition technology, which can be used to configure individual driver and passenger settings such as music preferences and vehicle temperature. Woah.
Other tech goodies include voice command capabilities to unlock and open doors upon approach. An LCD screen stretches across the dashboard housing a touchscreen in the center console. In the meantime, passengers are able to share music, photos, and videos through a “community display screen.” The Portal Concept can also be driven autonomously, with support for SAE Level 3 autonomous driving technology.
