Hennessey Plans for 1,200-HP Corvette ZR-1
…Because, why not? It has been only a few short weeks since Chevrolet debuted the 755 hp ZR-1. And can you believe that there are people out there who feel 755 isn’t enough? Well, Texas-based Hennessey Performance is on the case. Hennessey has announced plans for three upgrade packages for the ZR-1. The first is the HPE850, then the HPE100, and finally the HPE1200. And yes, you guessed it, each package has more power than the previous.
The HPE850 will be upgraded to 850-hp and buyers will receive a lower pulley, high-flow cylinder heads, upgraded valve springs, intake and exhaust valves and new pushrods and filters. The HPE1000 packs a full 1,000-hp and 966 lb-ft of torque thanks to a new supercharger. This package features most of the upgrades as the HPE850. As for the star of the show, (the HPE1200), well Hennessey didn’t hold back on this one. Under the hood is a 7.0-liter supercharged V8 with 1,200-hp and 1,066 lb-ft of torque. The HPE1200 will go 0-60 in just 2.2 seconds, a quarter-mile in 9.2 seconds at 147 mph, and will have a top speed of 230 mph. Woah. Expect Hennessey to roll out the Corvette ZR-1 upgrade packages in 2018 – prices to come after that. We’ll keep you posted.
