Chicago Auto Show: 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1
A 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was front and center at the Chicago Auto Show this week. The automaker rolled out this hall-of-famer, and let’s just say it attracted more than a little attention at the press review.
Ford planned to use Chicago to highlight the 2018 Expedition, but fortunately for us, the restored 46-year-old ‘Stang was in impeccable condition, and stole the show. Packed with Flowmaster mufflers, a polished Edelbrock carburetor, KYB shocks, and a larger front sway bar, this ride is anything but boring. But wait, there’s more: disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning, and tinted glass. The retro powertrain has a 351-4V engine, and a C6 Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic transmission.
So why was this beauty on display at the Chicago Auto Show? Automakers occasionally show off oldies but goodies at auto shows, and we don’t hate it. Enjoy.
