Ford Is Using Hologram Technology For New Model Design
Ford is taking to technology to design its future models. And we can’t lie, it’s really cool. The automaker has partnered with Microsoft to utilize the newest hologram technology to design cars. The technology is called HoloLens and is essentially wireless goggles that use reality to design a concept onto a physical object. In this example, the object is a future Ford Fusion model.
Ford is combining the old clay technique and the hologram technology to shorten the time it takes to see physical changes on the model. “It’s amazing we can combine the old and new – clay models and holograms – in a way that saves time and allows designers to experiment and iterate quickly to dream up even more stylish, clever vehicles,” says Ford VP of vehicle component and systems engineering, Jim Holland. “Microsoft HoloLens is a powerful tool for designers as we continue to reimagine vehicles and mobility experiences in fast-changing times.”
