7,000 Dodge Challengers Have Been Recalled
Uh-oh. Fiat Chrysler might be little worried about this one. The automaker announced that it is recalling 7,802 models of the 2017 Challenger in the US. More specifically, the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. The reason? The cars are rolling away. The problem is attributed to a glitch in the transmission software. FCA claims that drivers may shift into “park” while the engine is on and “erroneously believe their vehicles are in ‘park’ because their shifters and instrumentation may indicate so.” Luckily, this is an easy fix. The cars need a software update to ensure the coupe stays in “park.” The FCA is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to this issue.
Outside of the US, 390 units are being recalled in Canada, and 119 outside of North America. Fortunately owners can stop by their local dealership and get their wheels all fixed up.
