The Fabled Ford F-150 Gets An Upgrade

For nearly 40 years, the Ford F-150 has dominated the pickup truck market. It also happens to be the most profitable vehicle of all time (yeah, seriously). For Ford, the F-150 is undoubtedly the most important vehicle in its lineup. The automaker announced at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month that the 2018 F-150 will include new styling tweaks, advanced safety technology and a powerful new diesel engine. And we can’t forget to mention the extras: a new grille, headlamps and bumpers.

These few changes will create a “visually wider and more planted stance and maximum differentiation between the series.” And what’s a new tail lamp design without new wheels? There will be a total of six all-new wheel designs available for the 2018 model F-150, ranging from 17 to 22 inches. While these changes seem minor, it’s what lies under the hood that has us excited. Ford is launching a new 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engine in the newly designed 2018 F-150.

In addition to these upgrades, Ford has upped its tech game in the new truck. Including adaptive cruise control, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, 4G LTE connection with mobile WiFi hotspot, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system. The 2018 Ford F-150 is set to go on sale this fall, with at least one more major update planned for the future. Ford has plans to develop an F-150 hybrid to take on the EV market with 13 new electric vehicles in the next few years. Stay tuned.
