Jay Leno’s 1966 Dodge Coronet Is Simple And We Love It
This week on Jay Leno’s Garage, we meet one of his more low-key cars, a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500. Despite being a more subdued member of his collection, it happens to be one of his favorites. The car is nearly free of any unnecessary options. Well, not completely free .. bucket seats and a console shifter keep things interesting. As for as the goodies that aren’t so visible, the original owner opted for a massive 426 cu. in. Hemi V8.
What’s special to Leno about this car is the combination of the huge V8 paired with the cars simplicity. The lack of frivolities like scoops, stripes, and wings make this car an understated beauty. Downsides? Jay notes the lack of stopping and turning ability is the only thing he would improve on the car. But still, this dark metallic green machine is a sight for sore eyes, and has a great sound. Check out the video for a better look:
